S.J. Kincaid – The Diabolic and The Empress.

29/10/2019 By paucoes Leave a Comment

Nemesis is Sidonia Impyrean’s Diabolic. A Diabolic is a genetically modified being that serves and protects only a master, they’re the fastest, strongest, biggest and the deadliest of all beings. They were forbidden and condemned to death by the Emperor but the Impyrean disobeyed and hid Nemesis.

The Impyrean are one of the noble families of the Galactic Empire. Senator Von Impyrean is the family leader. The Emperor dislikes him because he promotes some ideas rejecting the helionist religion and wanting to continue with the search of knowledge and not totally depending of machines.

One day, the Emperor summons Sidonia to the “Chrysanthemum”, the place where the royal family, the Domitrian, live and the center of the Empire. Sidonia’s parents realize that it’s a trap so they decide to send Nemesis instead of their daughter but the Diabolic must be previously trained for not being discovered.

The first book tells us Nemesis’ search of identity and humanity supposedly being someone without feelings, her adaptation process in the Chrysanthemum, the dirty way of the Empire’s politics and her agreement with the successor primus Tyrus Domitrian for toppling the Emperor and his powerful mother.

The second book tells us all the complications of being accepted as Tyrus’ Empress, of trying to change people’s minds having powerful enemies such as Senator Von Pasus and the Vicar and how difficult is to find trustworthy people.

It seems to me that the third book will be very exciting, the end of the second book requires it. I liked that the story took place in space and the story of how humans ended there.

I think that machines make us life easier but we must not want them to do everything for us. I also think that the search for knowledge is important, to stop learning isn’t good, so if I lived in the book, I would agree with Senator Von Impyrean.

In my opinion, politics is complicated in real life and in the books. Those in power, are corrupted by it many times and only see for their interests. Politics in the Galactic Empire is exactly like that, besides all the nobles were always consuming strange substances, fortunately, there are persons with revolutionary ideas, we’ll see if they achieve their goals in the third book.

To end, I liked Nemesis. She’s part of the characters that remain in your mind after finishing the books. Although, I wouldn’t like to see the creation of humanoids for serving us, neither the creation of beasts for entertaining the powerful.

I’ll read and review the third book.
