This novel is about Liesel Meminger, a german girl who discovers that she loves books. It occurs in Nazi Germany, so Liesel’s life isn’t easy. She was an orphan, but a couple adopted her; happily they’re not a bad couple and they care for her.
The real problems appear when they decide to host a young Jewish in their basement to protect him from the nazis. This young man will become very important for Liesel and they will share special moments.
I think this novel is extremely moving. Liesel is a very intelligent and beautiful girl who lives in a horrible time and she has to live terrible situations. I love her love for books and that she tries to save a book whenever she can.
The story catches your attention from the beginning. I suffered with all the sad situations that Liesel had to endure. This is a very dramatic novel. How could it not be dramatic if it happened during a terrible time? However, the existence of Liesel is a light in a very dark moment.
I’ll never forget this book.
