This story happens during the World War II. Tommy and Tuppence Beresford, they have been the main characters in other novels of this author, are feeling left out because of their age and because nobody wants to give them a job. They decide to call a friend and chief of the Secret Service, named Lord Easthampton, and ask him for help.
One day, an official, named Grant, arrives at the Beresford’s house to offer Tommy a secret job, so secret that, not even, Tuppence can know of it. This job consists in taking the place of a dead agent and discover the traitors working in important positions in England, discover who are N and M and the information that they will receive in a pension named Sans-Souci, located in Leahampton. Tommy takes the job.
I didn’t like so much this novel, I liked more the other two novels that I’ve read of this author, and, in this ocassion I had no idea of the identity of N and M. I had a big surprise with the resolution, because the story makes you doubt of a lot of people, but never of the real N and M.
The thing that I liked the most, was that Tommy and Tuppence were very clever and they knew how to deal with all the situations, based on their previous experience. In my opinion, the experience should be more valued, because in some cases, the experience is the most important thing.
N or M? is an interesting story, although I didn’t like it so much.
