Stephenie Meyer – The Host.

05/06/2015 By paucoes Leave a Comment

The world has been invaded by an alien race that believes the humans are very violent. Their form seems to be like an octopus and they’re very small, they fit in our hands. They call themselves “Souls”. This aliens invade human bodies, normally, making the human’s conscience disappear, but there are some consciences that want to prevail. In this cases, the human body is discarded.

Melanie is part of a survivors group and she is in love with Jared. Preventing her brother capture, she tries to distract a group of Souls and she intends to commit suicide, but she doesn’t die and she’s captured by the Souls. A Soul, named Wanderer, invades her body, but Melanie’s conscience prevail and they will have to fight for control or learn to live in the same body.

In The Host: A Novel you’ll find that the love is very important. But, you’ll also find, an analysis of human thinking and the importance of freedom, the will and goodness. It highlights hope and the group’s solidarity.

I think that the way the survivors live in caves and protect themselves of the Souls is very ingenious.

I like Wanda’s intelligence and that she realizes that the way to end human’s violence isn’t invading us. Besides, the humans have, always, shown that their love for freedom is huge and that they’ll fight for it always.
