Loveday had a difficult childhood so she took refuge in books.
She works in a second hand bookshop. The owner, Archie, is her only friend.
She doesn’t like people and she’s not sociable but one day she finds a poetry book on the street thanks to which she will meet someone who will open her mind.
I liked the importance of books in the story. I think reading is one of the most amazing activities in the world and books can be great friends and teachers.
I must confess that sometimes I didn’t like Loveday. I thought that she exaggerated her distrust. I have no doubt that her parental situation must have been traumatic but she didn’t make the effort to get over it and give opportunities to new things.
I would like to have her job, surrounded by books, with a very nice boss and having the opportunity to take home some books I like.
I thought that Rob was a horrible person. It’s a shame that there are guys like him in the real world.
At last, I liked the end though it was kind of sad. I recommend this book as a beautiful tribute to books. I liked it!
