The book’s titles are: 1-Half Bad, 2-Half Wild and 3-Half Lost.
Nathan is a half white and half black witch, so he’s feared and hated by most of the white witches. He’s also Marcus’ son, the greatest black witch of all times. Nathan lives in a cage kept by Celia, a rude white Hunter.
For becoming a real witch and finding his ability, he must receive three gifts on his seventeenth birthday, but it seems, there’s no one besides Marcus who can give him these gifts and he had never tried to find Nathan, therefore, he must escape from the cage and try to find some help.
On the other hand, most of the white witches dislike black witches and they want them dead. Also they want to capture Marcus using Nathan as bait. Their leader is a Coucil Member named Soul who is very ambitious and careless. He has a scientist, Wallend, experimenting with black witches. And the Hunters are capturing or killing black witches.
There are a few white witches who dissaprove Soul and his thinking, therefore, they form the Alliance with black witches and some half witches. They’re against the extermination and the lack of tolerance. Nathan, after receiving his three gifts at a critical moment and finding his ability, joins this group. Gabriel, his best friend and love joins the Alliance too. Together, they’ll fight a battle with no happy ending.
Nathan had serious identity and aggressiveness problems. It’s understandable after all he had been through, however, I think his impulsiveness and self-distrust led him to be hateful and rude with the persons who loved him and didn’t deserve to be treated that way. I believe that even though your life had been bad, you can decide to overcome it and be a good and healthy person. I didn’t like Nathan’s character, but his story was interesting, exciting and easy to read.
I would have liked Gabriel being less silly and that he would not allow Nathan to treat him bad. He was an intelligent and good guy who deserved to be treated well. Besides, he really loved and understood Nathan. No one deserves to be treated that way.
It was fun reading this trilogy with its love plots and great character’s variety, Van, Mercury, Ledger, Nesbitt, Greatorex, Clay and Jessica, Arran, Annalise, etc. And I liked the end, it was very poetic.
