Sir John Thurlow disappears after a seance in his mansion, Old Hall Farm.
His niece, Eileen, was in charge of the seance and she was the last to see him. She says that they heard a mysterious organ music during the seance. She thinks it was spirit’s doing and that her uncle’s disappearance is related with the paranormal world.
Not long after Sir Thurlow’s disappearance, his corpse is found next to Clarry Martins’ corpse and the people begin to make hypotheses.
Anthony “Algernon” Vereker is a journalist and an amateur detective who was visiting Yarham. When he gets to know about the corpses, he begins to investigate the crime which will be known as “The Spirit Murder Mystery”. He’ll compete vs Detective Heather of Scotland Yard.
This is an agile reading book, short and entertaining. It kept my attention and it made me try to solve the crime. Besides I liked the paranormal part.
Vereker was a very good detective. I think he should work as one instead of as a journalist.
I think this is a book that you can read with a coffee or a tea during the afternoon and have a good time among spirits and mystery.
The author has more books with Algernon as main character. Since I don’t know if I’ll read more of these books, I’ve decided to put the author in autoconclusive novels. If I read more of his books, I’ll change him of category.
