This series consists in four books: 1- El Niño del Siglo, 2- La Larga Sombra, 3- El Lobo Blanco y 4 – El Fuego Ultraterreno.
This story is about David Camden’s life. He’s the child of the century (El Niño del Siglo) because he’s going to live, exactly, 100 years. He has some special powers and he’s going to be of special importance to some of the most important historical figures of the XX century, during the 100 years between 1900 and 2000, so, he’s going to live the two world wars and other historical events. He was born having the mission of facing an evil being named Belial, who’s the leader of the Twilight Circle, a secret organization whose members are very powerful men from different countries. They’ve been planning and wanting the end of the world since a long time. Each member owns a ring, these rings provide longevity and strenght to their owners. David will have to collect the rings and face each one of the Circle’s Members, including a strange being named Negromanus, who’s Belial’s shadow and he’s very dangerous.
This is a great series, it’s written with much knowledge of history and it’s mixed with fiction in a perfect way. The Circle’s conspirations made me think so much in things that’ve happened in the reality and that was something I liked.
I must confess that the first book bored me sometimes, but the other three caught my attention since the beginning, that’s why I say that this is a great series. The story takes place in a lot of different countries, England, Russia, Peru, Germany, Japan, the United States, etc because David must face or discredit each one of the members in their own country. He must destroy their rings to prevent the spread of their evil influence and prevent the end of the world.
I found very interesting that David met important historical figures like Einstein, some of the presidents of the United States, the awful Hitler and some of his party members, among others.
I think that this is a realistic and intelligent series. Perhaps, there isn’t an organization led by someone with magic powers like Belial and his shadow Negromanus, but it’s true that there are some organizations that can manipulate the people depending on their organizational interest or their leaders interest and most of the people don’t realize that they’re being manipulated.
I recommend very much this series.
