Mike, Mel, Henna and Jared are bestfriends. This is their last summer together because they’re going to different universities.
One day, they see an “indie” (the guys who save the world in the stories) entering the forest in a hurry and after that they see a blue light right were the indie went.
This event is the beginning of a series of indies’ disappearances and of the story of these four friends and their wishes, plans, obsessions and the way they face them even if facing them don’t mean saving the world.
I think this book is very enjoyable. I liked that there were two stories in one. The main one was Mike’s and the secondary one was the indies’ that appeared at the beginning of every chapter.
I think it must be very difficult to have an obsessive compulsive disorder like Mike who couldn’t stop his cycles, or the anorexia in case of Mel. The good part was that they had each other and that they were real good siblings.
I liked Jared being God of the Cats. He was a nice guy and I think he could have been an indie.
At last, for me this books’ message is that everyone is special and that our lives could be very interesting despite the fact that we’re not the chosen ones. Also, I decided that there was another message: we must keep the fantasy and magic alive despite being grownups.
