This book is part of Harry Bosch’s series. It’s not the first one, but I think it can be read without the previous background, although it mentions some past events.
A corpse is found in one of Hollywood’s observatories. The victim seems to be a doctor who had access to radioactive substances and the motive could be to steal some of the substances.
Detective Harry Bosch will have to work with the FBI and his ex Rachel Walling to catch the criminals before they could use the dangerous substances.
Bosch is very cunning and he pays attention to details that nobody else sees. Also, he’s extremely stubborn and because of that he’s a difficult person.
The reader doesn’t expect the end of this book. The story guides you through a path and suddenly that path changes. I didn’t like this situation and I thought that the real motive of the crime didn’t need all the story with the radioactive substances and terrorism. I would have liked that the story remained as it was first raised.
I consider it an agile reading book and I think it’s entertaining although it’s not what I expected.
