This is the sequel to “Strange the Dreamer”.
On one hand, we have the main story where Lazlo and Sarai are at Minya’s mercy. She wants revenge and doesn’t mind using Sarai’s soul to control Lazlo and hinder their romance.
Seeing this, Ruby, Feral and Sparrow must decide who’s side to take: Minya’s or Lazlo’s.
In this story we learn more about Minya’s thinking and, together with the characters, we discover that some of them are stronger than they thought. In Sarai’s case, will her power work despite being dead?
On the other hand, we have the story of the powerful sisters Kora and Nova. This story will explain us some important issues and will add more difficulties to the plot making it more exciting. Also, other interesting characters will appear.
Laini Taylor is one of my favorite authors. I think that her books are exciting, emotive, magical, profound, they make you think in the possibility of the existence of other worlds and that there may be some strange beings with human appearance that aren’t human.
Some characters as Nova and Minya are full of negative emotions (fear, hate, resentment) and that makes them wicked but they can also be very protective, loyal and tender in a strange way. That duality is interesting for me.
I think this book is very recommendable, the whole story of Lazlo is recommendable. I like the world where it takes place, the fact that not only the main character is interesting, that it has romantic and tender moments but also others very dramatic and stressful, that the plot has twists and that some parts of the story are funny. This is a story that stays in your mind after finishing it.
I enjoyed this book a lot. I recommend it.
