Karou is mysterious art student who lives in Praga. She was raised by four chimeras (beings with bodies made from human and animal parts), but she lives as human. She works for Brimstone (one of the chimeras that raised her. He’s very special for Karou) bringing him all kinds of teeth, but she doesn’t know the use that the chimera gives the teeth. She will get involved in an ancient war between angels and chimeras when she meets Akiva, an angel who’s trying to kill all the chimeras and destroy the portals for entering Brimstone’s place. Akiva will be intrigued by the mystery that surrounds Karou, therefore he’s not going to return to his world until he discovers why he’s intrigued by Karou.
This trilogy became one of my favorites. I love the mixture of reality and fantasy and I love the chimeras, they’re special and very original. My favorites are Ziri, Issa and Brimstone.
The fact that the angels aren’t the good ones is excellent. I was accustomed to the idea that the angels are always the good ones and I liked, so much, that this story turned them into the bad ones. Well, the most of them.
Along the trilogy you’ll find a lot of surprising and exciting moments that will make you want to never stop reading. Besides, the real and the fiction places where the story takes place are amazing and mystical. All the characters have a special importance and there are a lot of different characters, humans, chimeras and angels.
I think that this trilogy can become one of the best fantasy stories. It’s wonderful!
