A lot of years ago a being with insatiable hunger, called the Afaugh, terrorized the world. The ancient cultures chose and created a hero to protect the world from the Afaugh’s hunger. Centuries passed calmly, until…
Four students get lost in Rowton Bank, during a trip, because their teacher and guide wasn’t with them when they lost the way. Only one of them appears, after a while, telling an incredible story and looking crazy. Of the other three there’s no trace.
One day a dog and it’s owner were walking by the place where the students got lost. By sniffing, the dog discovered some buried old bones, apparently human bones. The scared owner called the police. As the detectives and officers didn’t know how old the bones were, they called Dr. Tara Doumani who along with a large group of investigators, will analyze the bones and realize that they’re very peculiar and that it was a tragic mistake to dug them up.
I thought it was a good horror novel and it made me wonder about the existence of alternate worlds.
I didn’t like Nathan or the Afaugh. The first one was so obsessive and selfish. And the second one was an unpleasant monster. I was pleased to discover that Nathan wasn’t the new hero and that Scattie, after being lost and surviving a lot of horrors, was the heroine. Also, it pleased me to read that Tara, despite being attacked by the Afaugh, helped at the end.
This is a book worth to read because it has a lot of stories that in the end make one good novel. I confess that I got confused, but as I kept reading everything was clear.
