The reporter Camille Preaker is assigned to cover the murder of two girls in her hometown. She has, recently, left a psychiatric hospital and she isn’t happy with the assignment because she and her mother had a lot of problems and she, barely, talks to her half-sister. Camille will go to her hometown and she’ll stay at her old house, there she’ll try to discover who’s the killer enduring all the family problems.
All the characters in this novel are, really, disturbed. All of them have strong psychological issues. Camille has a really bad problem with sharp objects and a lot of self-distrusts caused by her mother’s insanity. Her half-sister is crazy too and she’s the character that I liked least. All the psychological part is perfectly described in this novel.
The end wasn’t surprising and, honestly, I didn’t like this book too much because there wasn’t one single character that wasn’t crazy and the mystery part wasn’t too good. I recommend this novel if you want to read about really disfunctional families and all the psychological issues that many persons can have.
