Billy receives a job offer from his ex best friend Shawn Eagle. The job consists in living for a few time in the restored Eagle Mansion to fix a program, named Nellie, that they created after finishing school. Nellie has been failing since it was installed in the ancient and supposedly enchanted mansion. It was created to be a personal assistant who always makes you happy and keeps you from feeling lonely, but it’s been behaving as if being possessed by the mansion’s spirits.
The book tells us the story behind Nellie’s creation, the problems between Shawn and Billy that separated them, some of Shawn’s childhood, how Eagle Mansion was created, and everything that happens after Billy accepts the job.
“The Hatching” trilogy became one of my favorites, that’s why I decided to read this new book. Sadly, the story didn’t catch my attention despite that the new technologies and their reach are very interesting topics.
The characters didn’t attract me as I expected. I think that Shawn’s father is despicable. And the twins Ruth and Rose are the most interesting and the ones I liked the most. I would have liked to read more about them.
Nevertheless, I like Ezekiel Boone’s writing style.
