This novel takes place, simultaneously, in different countries. In Peru, the owner of “Henderson Tech”, his bodyguard, three models and their guide are attacked by a black tide in the jungle. Henderson manages to survive and he escapes in his private jet ignoring what’s eating him from inside. In China, the government launches a nuclear missile against one of their own provinces after failing to control something that’s getting out of a mine. And, there are strange earthquakes shaking India. These events are the beginning of a terrifying invasion.
I had a lot of fun reading this book despite it made me nervous because I don’t like spiders and, definitely, I would not like to deal with an invasion of carnivore and well organized spiders. There were times when I had chills and I thought, all the time, in a way to kill them. The story totally caught me.
Everything happens very quickly. The characters don’t have enough time to plan their defense. Dr. Melanie Guyer has the great responsability of studying this incredible and difficult spiders, and also she has to advise the president of the United States, Stephanie Pilgrim, who has to take radical measures to protect her people. They have the time against them because cities as Los Angeles, Nueva Delhi, Rio de Janeiro and Helsinki were devastated by the first wave of spiders and a lot of ootheques are being found.
I plan to read the following books of the series. I was very interested and excited with this story. I didn’t want this book to end, fortunately, there’ll be more books.
