Jack’s parents don’t pay much attention to him. He lives at London and there are times when he would prefer to be at school rather than at home.
The arrival of a mysterious, dark and magical character at his home, who seems to be a little interested in him, will arise a lot of interest from him and one day, he’ll follow this character through a hidden gate that will take him to Londinium, a parallel world.
What adventures will Jack live there?
I liked to imagine Londinium and its modified habitants who were part mechanical. Pity the pollution.
I thought that Beth, Dr. Snailwater and Xeno were very nice, and I liked the dragons. It would be lovely to have one.
Sir Lorcan and The Lady were bad people, perfect for each other. I can’t see why and how she was the ruler, she only cared for herself.
I think that Jack changed his mind very quickly, he didn’t care about the others and what could his actions cause to other people’s lives. I didn’t like that.
About the story, I think it’s very amusing and imaginative. Very adequate for children. It can be read by everyone, no matter the age, but I recommend it more for children.
The edition that I bought has a great cover and some beautiful illustrations.
