Captain Hastings makes a collection of some cases in which Poirot participated before he became a famous detective. Some of them belong to Poirot’s time in the belgian police, others belong to his first stage in London, and, there’s a case, “The Chocolate Box”, which Poirot couldn’t solve.
I thought that some of the cases were solved very quickly or suddenly solved, honestly, I didn’t like this, but, Hercule Poirot is the best detective and he solves the cases in an impressive way.
I continue to think that Poirot is an excellent and peculiar character. The pride, discretion, cleverness and capacity of observation are some of the characteristics that, in my opinion, make him so peculiar and a great detective. On the other hand, Captain Hastings is a good man, who makes a lot of mistakes trying to solve the cases, but, he helps Poirot with his assumptions. In the last case of the book, “How Does Your Garden Grow?”, Miss Lemon, Poirot’s secretary, appears.
